Short version: when you buy a shoe through one of our outbound links, we may earn a commission from the retailer. This never affects which shoes we recommend. We do not accept payment from brands. Affiliate revenue is treated as flat across all retailers.

How we make money

Next Pair is free to use. To support the work, we participate in retailer affiliate programmes. When you click a link from one of our pages or chat responses to a retailer (e.g. Zappos), the retailer may pay us a small commission if you make a purchase. Your price does not change.

Why this doesn't bias recommendations

Brand-agnostic recommendations. We don't accept money, free product, or sponsored placement from shoe brands. Recommendations come from a shoe database we maintain ourselves, weighted by independent expert reviewers.
Affiliate revenue is flat across retailers. When a shoe is available at multiple retailers, we don't preferentially recommend the one paying the highest commission. The recommendation logic is agnostic to retailer.
Reviewer attribution is open. Every recommendation cites the reviewer(s) it draws on, with links to their original content. You can verify what the reviewer actually said.

Methodology

Recommendations are grounded in expert reviews from a curated set of independent running specialists — covering clinical authorities, lab-testing sites, established YouTube reviewers, and active running communities. Every source we use is publicly available; none are paid for or affiliated with shoe brands.

Different sources carry different weight in our recommendation logic, based on our internal assessment of expertise, testing rigor, and track record. We don't publish the exact weighting.

We extract facts and attributed opinions only — no verbatim review prose. Original reviews are linked from each shoe page so credit goes back to the creator and you can verify what they actually said.

If you'd prefer to support reviewers directly, every recommendation links back to the original reviewer's video or article. Click those instead — they cost you nothing and give the creator the view.
